Yorkshire Water JDTs
Although we have worked for Yorkshire Water since their formation in the early 1970s, our relationship has blossomed since privatisation. The new challenges of shareholder value and Ofwat targets meant that Yorkshire Water had to re-evaluate its capital procurement strategy in the late 1990s. The decision to enter into long-term partnering arrangements based around cost reimbursable contracts was a bold move and one that could only pay off if an open and honest relationship could be built with its contractors. During the bidding process for the third round of their Asset Management Planning (AMP3) Capital Programme, JN Bentley and Mott MacDonald established a joint venture company (Mott MacDonald Bentley) to meet Yorkshire Water's demands. The joint venture has since expanded to work for other clients in the water industry as well as the solid waste and industrial building sectors. The relationship with Yorkshire Water remains strong and from an office within Yorkshire Water's complex at Bradford, we have two Joint Delivery Teams servicing the water business unit (west area) and environmental business unit (north area). Both Joint Delivery Teams provide feasibility, design, construction and commissioning services for all capital works within their areas (a combined total of up to 300 projects each year). |
