JN Bentley’s move into renewable energy, particularly hydropower, was a natural progression from the expertise gained over many years with the Environment Agency, water sector clients and from other environmental projects.

JN Bentley is proud to be a member of the British Hydropower Association, and we’re privileged to work with prestigious hydropower clients such as Scottish Water, British Waterways, the Small Hydro Company and RWE npower renewables.

We have also established some important supply chain relationships in the renewable energy market to help us deliver our hydropower schemes, including Spaans Babcock to supply Archimedean Screws.

Our growing knowledge and expertise in the renewable energy and hydropower sector allows us to advise clients on the best installation for their site to get the best financial returns using the most appropriate technology for the specifics of each individual site.

This may include advice on the introduction of Feed-in Tariffs, which the Government has announced they will be introducing in addition to ROCs from April 2010, as well as the specific planning, cost and environmental issues that can arise when developing a renewable energy or hydropower scheme.
