Esholt Wastewater Treatment Works

Our subsidiary, Mott MacDonald Bentley, has installed a hydro-turbine power station to generate renewable energy from the wastewater treatment works process at Esholt.

Works progress at Linton Falls

Linton Falls
Linton Falls Hydroelectric Power Company Ltd


JN Bentley has installed two Archimedean screw turbines and restored the turbine house at Linton Falls in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.  JN Bentley subsidiary, the Linton Falls Hydroelectric Power Company, owns and operates the site, which generates approximately 500,000kW-hours per year.

At Grimwith, water is released from the reservoir to the River Dibb. Energy was being lost and offered an opportunity for energy recovery/generation from a turbine at the point of discharge.

This renewable energy project involved installing a 120kW Francis Turbine at the inlet to the Rivelin Water Treatment Works to recover energy from the raw water as it arrives.
