Renewable Energy Scheme:  Rivelin
Client:   Yorkshire Water

This renewable energy project involved installing a 120kW Francis Turbine at the inlet to the Rivelin Water Treatment Works to recover energy from the raw water as it arrives.

Raw water arrives at the site from Rivelin Lower Reservoir and the Derwent Tunnel.

We had to make relatively small modifications to the existing site infrastructure to install the hydro-turbine, which has now been running successfully since the end of 2008. 

All renewable energy generated is used on the treatment works site.
