The construction industry is both the UK's biggest employer and its biggest exporter:  It contributes more than 8% of the UK's GDP and employs 2.1 million people - which is around 1 in 14 of the total UK workforce.  The industry is continuing to grow steadily with an output of £81 billion.

The industry needs 88,000 new recruits every year for the next five years.  And, to achieve its target of a fully qualified workforce by 2010, it needs to qualify 100,000 workers each year to NVQ 2 standard.

Like all construction companies, we are facing the possibility of a skills shortage at every level.  To overcome this potential problem we have a number of new entrant training programmes specifically aimed at people who are new to the industry.
