Environment

Throughout our history much of our work has been associated with water and the water environment.

We have completed flood defence schemes in tidal and non-tidal waters and constructed fish passes and gauging stations for the Environment Agency.

We have wide experience of land drainage works for the Internal Drainage Boards and have constructed surface water storage systems and pumping stations well below natural ground water level, and often well below sea level.  More recently we have applied Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUDS) techniques to our projects, including a hardstanding that we designed and constructed for Walkers’ Snack Foods.

Our second framework with the Coal Authority continues to build on our expertise in the construction of minewater remediation projects, including pumping stations and reed beds. One of our 2009 projects also involved the construction of a short sea outfall; a project which went on to win several awards including the prestigious Edie environmental award.

We see the potential to apply our knowledge and expertise to the renewable energy sector.  We are already working on some exciting new developments in hydro-power and we’re keen to build on our portfolio in this sector.  For more information on our work in this area, please see our Renewable Energy expertise pages.
