In 1985, Andrew graduated from the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Maths and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant via a training contract with Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young).

Following qualification, he moved in to the textile industry where he gained a breadth of experience working for different companies within Courtaulds Textiles plc. He joined as an internal auditor and within two years had progressed to be one of its Finance Directors overseeing one of its most profitable business units. He was later promoted to Divisional Finance Director, a role encompassing a portfolio of recognisable consumer brands.

Andrew has a number of directorships under his belt, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants and has experience of running his own business for several years after being part of a successful management buy out.  Having built up this business substantially, it was sold in June 2006 to one of the world’s largest textile companies based in India.

Following the sale, Andrew stayed on for 18 months to support the handover to the new shareholders before taking a short career break to enjoy some free time with his family.  After deciding he would like to pursue new challenges in a different sector, he successfully applied for the role of Finance Director with JN Bentley and took up post in July 2008.
