Q1. What attracted you to JN Bentley and why did you apply? What first attracted me to JN Bentley was the nature of the job – the job description promoted it as a varied and well-rounded view of HR. Also, after having researched the company certain aspects stood out such as its inclusion in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list - this is definitely one of the reasons I applied as it shows that JN Bentley’s employees rate the company very highly, which is always a good sign!
Q2. What were your day-to-day responsibilities? My responsibilities varied – on a day-to-day basis I was involved in recruitment, managing absences, and dealing with employee benefits such as the Cycle to Work Scheme. I also had the opportunity to get involved in lots of other different and interesting tasks, so overall the role was very diverse.
Q3. Were you provided with enough support and guidance? Throughout my placement I was always offered any support and guidance that I needed, both with the work I was required to carry out as part of my role and also any work that I needed to complete as part of my degree. I was always encouraged to ask questions if I did not understand something.
Q4. What aspects of JN Bentley life and culture did you enjoy? I enjoyed many aspects of JN Bentley life and culture. The work is very interesting and there is always something different happening every day. Furthermore, the people at JN Bentley are great and very friendly, which definitely makes working life a lot more enjoyable!
Q5. Did you experience a good work/life balance? Yes, although the company expect you to work hard they understand the importance of having a healthy work/life balance.
Q6. How has your experience helped you with career planning? Having had a taste of what a career in HR involves, this has certainly helped me to make a more informed decision on whether I would like to pursue a career in this field when I graduate. Furthermore, after having been involved in recruitment throughout the year I now have a greater understanding of how to put together a successful application and have picked up some hints and tips on interview techniques which will come in extremely handy when looking for a job after I graduate.
Q7. Would you recommend a placement at JN Bentley? Without a doubt – choosing a placement at JN Bentley has proven to be one of the best decisions I could have made and I have experienced and learnt far more than I ever thought that I would.
