Safety Culture recognised with client award

24/06/2010

JN Bentley Ltd has been awarded the Northumbrian Water Ltd (NWL) Framework Contractor Health and Safety Award for 2010.

During 2009-10 JN Bentley carried out around £5 million worth of construction work across the Northumbrian Water region.  NWL praised the company’s “open, pro-active and positive approach” to health and safety, and were particularly impressed by the consistently high safety standards across all sites.

The average Site Safety Inspection (SSI) score for the year of 4.16 out of a possible 4.9 is the highest score of all contractors inspected over the same period.

JN Bentley was presented with the award by the Chief Executive of Northumbrian Water, Heidi Mottram, as part of the NWL Health & Safety Awareness day held at the Glebe Centre, Murton, County Durham on 9th June.

We also received a special mention for our active participation in the quarterly NWL Framework Health and Safety Forums and workshops, with continuous improvement and knowledge sharing a key part of maintaining such a safe working relationship.

Philip Bentley, JN Bentley’s General Manager for the North East region said, “We’re delighted to have won this award.  It’s a credit to everyone involved with NWL schemes for their hard work and ongoing commitment to safety.”
